Gabriel de la Tomasa

BIOGRAPHY:

Gabriel Georgio González, known artistically as Gabriel de la Tomasa, is a cantaor of Gitano heritage, born in the Macarena district of Seville. He grew up in a deeply rooted flamenco family, where he absorbed the flamenco cante (singing) tradition through the voices of of his grandparents, Tomasa Solo Díaz, “La Tomasa”, and Manuel Georgio Gutiérrez, “Manuel Pies Plomo”. His training was shaped under the guidance of his father and mentor, José de la Tomasa—one of today’s most respected flamenco singers.

Heir to the legacy of artists such as Manuel and Pepe Torres, Gabriel has developed a style defined by the purity and emotional depth of cante gitano.

Over the course of his career, he has collaborated with artists such as Miguel “El Funi”, Esperanza Fernández, Carmen Ledesma or José Maya, and has performed internationally in the United States, Japan, Costa Rica, and across much of Europe.

In 2008, he made his debut at the Seville Biennial alongside his father with De la Misma Sangre, earning critical acclaim. He currently lives in Madrid, where he performs with companies led by Joaquín Cortés, Rafael Amargo, and Juana Amaya, as well as appearing as a soloist at international festivals and in various flamenco venues across the capital.
