José Viñas

José Viñas was born in La Línea de la Concepción (Cadiz) in 1992 and began his flamenco training at the age of 11 at dancer David Morales’ school. He went on with his studies at the dance conservatories of Malaga and Seville and was awarded a scholarship at the Cristina Heeren Flamenco Foundation. He trained with leading figures such as Milagros Mengíbar, Javier Barón, Carmen Ledesma, Rubén Olmo or Marco Flores. At the age of 15 he won second prize in the competition “Estepona, cantaora y bailaora”, being awarded first prize the following year. In 2010 he was proclaimed best young artist in the flamenco competition “Ciudad de Ubrique”. In 2015 he represented Cadiz in the competition “Desencaja” and won first prize in the contest “Carmen Ledesma” in Seville. In 2021 he earned the Award for Outstanding Dancer in Madrid. He has worked for important theatres and tablaos and has toured internationally in countries such as Saudi Arabia, the United States and Argentina. He is also part of the cast of Jesús Carmona’s El salto and is currently working on his own show, directed by Olga Pericet.
