The Madrid Flamenco Cultural Centre opened its doors on the 14th February 2019. This date was specifically picked to honour the love we have for flamenco as a form of art as well as our love for the lifestyle around it. This new project took after our Casa de la Memoria (“House of Memory”) in Seville, where we’ve been offering the best and most authentic traditional flamenco since 1999.
The Madrid Flamenco Cultural Centre gives you the opportunity to enjoy traditional flamenco, this including the dancing, singing and guitar playing with no distractions such as eating or drinking. The artists don’t use any microphones and the space is very limited and private which allows the audience an excellent visibility from every single angle. The setting is quiet and elegant; the room is air-conditioned and accessible to persons with reduced mobility.
The Madrid Flamenco Cultural Centre is located in Conde de Xiquena Street 6, specifically in the authentic Chueca district, at the junction with the Justicia area and minutes away from the Cibeles square, the Prado Museum, the Thyssen Museum, Alcalá Street and the Gran Vía.
This specific area in Madrid is very well known for its flamenco traditions dating back from the eighteen century, where many seguidillas talk about Barquillo Street and its surroundings and about some flamenco performers and lovers.
Barquillo Street was where the famous “Café de la Bolsa” was located. This Café Cantante held many performances with the participation of well-known artists in the second half of the twentieth century.
The building housing our Madrid Flamenco Cultural Centre is a stately home that dates from the nineteenth century and was recently renovated, but keeping its original granite and solid brick walls.
Aside from the shows, we host book presentations, album releases, talks, flamenco fashion shows, painting and photography exhibitions, etc.
Every evening, our intimate space holds in its tablao a show with some of the best artists in Madrid. True emotion, the heel tapping, the rhythm and guitar will come together and find the way to the audience’s heart and the way to make them feel involved in our genuine art.
Why choosing the Madrid Flamenco Cultural Centre?
Our experience of over 20 years with the cultural centre Casa de la Memoria (“House of Memory”) in Seville, the best tablao in the whole of Andalusia, gave us the opportunity to get to know what the audience wants. The best artists, the authentic mise en scene and the intimate atmosphere will make your visit a unique experience, one filled with captivating images and emotion.
This 2019 we present a show of our own creation, called Lorca Poeta Flamenco, a show based off of the universally known poet Federico García Lorca’s first poems or Poema del Cante Jondo.
We also organize different shows in order to offer a wider variety of dancing and singing and like to introduce young talents awarded with various national or regional awards.
In our Madrid Flamenco Cultural Centre we live this form of art with deep passion .Our dear artists beat along with the heart of flamenco.
