From the Centro Cultural Flamenco de Madrid we are re-launching the third edition of our dance contest. With the aim of encouraging and promoting emerging talent, the selected artists will have the opportunity to get on our stages with renowned professionals and show their skills in front of a specialised audience. The winners will not only receive a cash prize (€500 or €1000) but will also be able to form part of our regular programme, starring for a week in our “flamenco evenings”. Because we are clear about one thing: this artistic discipline is learned by experiencing first-hand the lively and creative work that is done every day on the stage.
In addition to that, this year we are introducing an important novelty, which aims to be an even more determined support to creation, with the awarding of the Premio Extraordinario Ciclo Cultural (Cultural Cycle Extraordinary Prize). The winner will enjoy a one-week artist residency at the Amor de Dios Flamenco School, so that they can create their own show and make it part of the special programme Ciclo Cultural de Baile (Dance Cultural Cycle), sharing the bill with artists as great as Jesús Carmona or Lucía La Piñona. Moreover, in order to facilitate the production of their proposal, the winner will be entitled to the usual cycle’s cachet.
Candidates over 16 years of age who wish to apply will have until 30 March at 00h to send their material via wetransfer. They should send their material to our e-mail address (redes@flamencocultural.com) and indicate the following information:
- Curriculum vitae.
- Video of a flamenco dance (uncut; minimum 7 minutes).
- Choose three “palos”: one to be danced in the semi-final and two options for the final (“palos” cannot be repeated).
The shortlist (between eight and ten semi-finalists) will be published on 7 April. Failure to comply with any of the above requirements will result in direct disqualification from the competition.
